Robert H. Goddard and Worcester, MA
A few years ago I did a big geography project about Robert Goddard and how the concept of “place” affected his science. Since this week is the 100th anniversary of his launching the first liquid fueled rocket, I thought it would be an awesome time to revisit it. If you follow the link, you can read about Goddard’s life in Worcester, how his science was received (and then, well, not), and how he was both in place and out of place in Worcester. There is an interactive map of the important places Goddard frequented in Worcester, as well as site affiliated with him, and other cool stuff. Check it out!
Part of my science communication is going to public libraries, senior centers, scout activities, and more to do presentations about space. I've had to rely on these venues' projectors, which aren't always compatible with my computer or system, and that leads to unpleasant surprises at times. I’m raising funds to buy a projector system so I know my presentations will work every time. You can help! Every penny will go toward getting a projector and screen. Thank you so much!
